Halloween How-Tos

I have made a couple of quick How-To pages for some LED spotlights for my Halloween setup in my yard. You can find them here and here. Also my daughter and I finished our Chandelier project this weekend, you can see a photo of the finished project here. I will be setting up a quick How-To on that soon (I hope).

Free Prop goods

So I go a box of small canisters the other day from Ghostess Deanna of the Florida Haunters website and The Dead End. I plan on using them for a simple “eyes in the bushes” prop for the Free Prop Challenge. Thanks Ghostess! I will be making the prop with my daughter and will be posting pics of the process. It should be a good time!

My first 5k

So I have been a little more slack about running, but the 5k is on Friday, and I will be running. My goal is not to beat any certain time, my goal is to finish. With that, I hope to keep improving. My only question is do I need the fancy running clothes? I have been running in a pair of old shorts and whatever grubby old free t-shirt I can find. I may have to come up with something by Friday, my wife is supposed to take pictures of this momentous event. I think tomorrow morning we (my friend Chris and I) are going to try an entire 5k which shouldn’t be too hard.

I ran for 25 minutes on Friday and again this morning, it was difficult! Today I ran a distance of 2.4 Miles which is just short of my 2.5 mile goal. I can hopefully make it up to 5k by the 4th of July, but it is getting harder.

I started week 6 of the 9 week couch to 5k running program. I have to say that I feel so much better since I started running and I think this is just a start. On Friday, I ran for 20 minutes without stopping (just shy of 2 miles). This is huge for me since the last time I ran was in high school (which was a long time ago). Chris is out in Colorado so the last week or so I have been running alone. I am on track to run the 5k on the 4th of July.

Running Week 3 Day 1

So running this morning sucked. I have never felt so out of shape before. I am keeping my goal of running a 5k on July 4th though so I will just have to suck it up and keep going. I guess we will see if the week 3 routine gets easier by Friday.

We decided that since we got a late start with our running program to run on Saturday this week. I have to say waking up at 5:45am on a saturday is a little strange. Today went really well, I found a podcast for the same running program we are using so we don’t have to keep checking a watch to time our run/walk cycles. I did weigh myself for the first time in a VERY long time and was shocked to find that I weigh 195lbs. That’s 10lbs heavier than I thought I weighed. Now that I have my starting weight though, I can keep better track of it.

Running: Day 2

So Chris and I went running again today. Let me clarify that we did not run the entire time, in fact we walked more than we ran. It was kinda like doing more reps with less weight I guess. It was a little harder than I thought, and It will hopefully help build muscle without feeling like total crap. I’m hoping I can keep up with this, I need to improve many parts of my life and this seems like a good place to start.
